This pretty girl is our first senior of the season, and what a kick off! We loved the lacy, vintage-look dress against the rich green trees and deep red barns on the property of the antebellum mansion where we held our session. It was an early Father’s Day, late Birthday, and on-time graduation gift for three men dreaming of learning to kayak the waves of the Chattahoochee River in Columbus, Georgia. Outside World Outfitters provided the kayaks and instructor and after practicing how to successfully roll the boat and save themselves from drowning most of the day, the three daredevils were finally able to navigate a thrilling, rain-swelled course down the river for a grand finale.
One of our sweetest babies with a triple portion of personality was the very first little man to fish from the studio dock this week. He managed to “catch” an apple and a bottle of Coke, and was polite enough to leave the gummy worm props in the mason jar for the next fella. Notice the nostalgic touch with antique cars in the black and white photos that belonged to the baby’s grandfather when he was a boy. Tim, Stephanie, and I got our baby fix this week with sweet little Carson. He was the most patient, even- tempered little angel and I can’t wait to watch him grow throughout the year. Dad plans to have him on the golf course before he can walk and it looks like there will be a lot of baseball and maybe even horseback riding in his future. These girls had a blast doing the 50’s thing and it’s a toss up over who had the most fun – their photographers or them! Susannah is wearing a vintage Kendrick High School cheerleader uniform (size 3) and the other ladies were oh -so vintage too! We are now booking seniors for summer and early fall sessions. We met this young couple when the baby was a tiny bundle and we had just photographed their aunt’s stunning wedding. We had a blast raising money for Operation Smile, the charity that provides free, lifesaving surgery to children in impoverished countries born with a cleft palate. Through the Professional Photographers of America Charities, we participated in this nationwide event with others in our profession who want to make a difference. Loved these candids. Our studio will be hosting another beginner to intermediate level photography workshop on Sunday April 28, 2013, at our Williams Road location in Columbus, GA. We will cover in depth the mechanics of shooting in manual so you understand how shutter speed, ISO, and aperture affect the outcome of your picture. You must learn to “Take That Camera out of Automatic” mode to gain more control over how your pictures will turn out.
We will also explain when to use the creative modes such as TV (shutter priority), AV (aperture priority), and some of the others. Composure, posing, light, and many more topics, including a bit of Photoshop, will also be discussed. Workshop tuition of $125 includes snacks and a written instruction manual.
